Soy Makes Sense at Newest Jersey Shore Candle Destination Manasquan, N.J. is Now Home to “Things That Make Scents”

March 9, 2007 (Manasquan, N.J.)—Everything is making sense at Things That Make Scents, the Jersey Shore’s premier soy candle shop that opened just in time for the spring weather to arrive.

The store, located in Manasquan’s charming downtown district, features a wide array of soy wax candles and gifts. The candles are made from clean-burning soy wax, and are hand poured and crafted on site.

Soy beans, which are non-toxic, biodegradable and environmentally safe, are used to make the candles. The wax burns with little or no soot, unlike traditional paraffin candles.

What sets this captivating 600-square-foot store apart from other local gems is its rotating collection of more than 80 aromas. Owner Janine Predmore spent more than six years experimenting with fragrances, consistencies and an assortment of soy waxes to create the perfect blend of invigorating aromas. Each candle comes complete with attractive packaging featuring the “Oh Soy!” trade name. They are available in sizes from tea lights and votives to the larger 16- and 26-ounce varieties.

The store also features hand-dipped soy critters, which offer the amusement of a stuffed animal with long-lasting scented soy wax that gives off a delightful scent. A selection of candle accessories and gift items top off this exclusive shop that is sure to enchant locals and tourists.

“There is always something new here. The Candle of the Month offers visitors a new trend each time they stop over,” says Janine, who began the business online and moved to the Manasquan location to house production and warehousing operations. Things That Make Scents is located at 56 Union Avenue/Route 71, in Manasquan, New Jersey.
