Since then we’ve been manufacturing 100% soy candles and aroma critters online and have grown so much that in 2007 we had decided to open our first retail store and factory in Manasquan New Jersey!

A longtime candle aficionado, owner Janine became frustrated with the soot stains paraffin candles left on her ceiling. After doing much research, she discovered that soybean candles were a cleaner, healthier alternative with an added bonus. Soy wax candles are more cost-effective than their petroleum-based paraffin counterparts and are healthier for our customers.

At Things That Make Scents™, we manufacture only soy wax candles and use cotton core or hemp wicks. This ensures you a superior, cleaner, longer-lasting burn that's environmentally safe. Remember, soot from paraffin candles can build up on walls, furniture, electronics and other home accessories. Soy candles, however, are created from non-toxic, natural soybeans and when burned correctly are virtually soot, smoke and pollution free. Face it, soy candles make the most sense!
